Definition please: horns of a uterus (in a rat)?

Rats have a uterus consisting of the right and left cornua (horns) referred to as a bicornuate uterus. This structure enables the rat to have multiple offspring. The horns of the uterus come together to form the vagina. (The shape is similar to that of a steer's head with horns, thus the name.)

Definition please: horns of a uterus (in a rat)?
A human uterus is shaped like a sac. A rat's uterus is shaped like the horns of a cow -- two sections that go in different directions, no sac.

Do a search for rat biology, I'm sure you'll find a picture!
Reply:Neutering, from the Latin neŭter (of neither type), is the removal of an animal's reproductive organ, either all of it or a considerably large part of it. It is the most drastic surgical procedure with sterilizing purposes. The process is also referred to as castration, or gelding in male horses; while the process in females is also called spaying.

Unlike in humans, neutering is the most common sterilizing method in animals. While many agree on the advantages of neutering as a method of birth control, the necessity and humanity of this method (as opposed to alternative methods of birth control) and the political agendas within the debate are a subject of some controversy. In the USA, most humane societies, animal shelters, and rescue groups (not to mention numerous commercial entities) urge pet owners to have their pets "spayed or neutered" to prevent the births of unwanted litters, contributing to the overpopulation of animals. In Europe, the procedure is less commonly performed, especially in dogs.

Reply:imagine the uterus as a circle. then imagine horns coming off of it. those are the Fallopian tubes. the horns. its where the eggs come from to make babies.
Reply:Human uteri (plural of uterus) are like one nice cozy room. The fallopian tubes are like tiny hallways at the top "corners" of the room with ovaries at the end.

Rats don't have one nice room. Their uterus is two long tubes - they are called horns. Imagine a V. The bottom point of the V is the cervix, the two legs of the V is the rat's uterus - called horns.

Our uterus is one room because we usually have only one baby. They have "horns" because they have multiple babies.

Many animals have these horns.

I hope I've helped. :)
