I bought BR loco horns on ebay i need to adjust them to sound like deltic loco these i think came off class 31

these horns have threaded caps at the rear with adjustable bolt for air supply one horn is long and one short am i right to assume that the short one would be high tone ?

would the horns be lower in tone the further out the bolt is ?

I intend to mount these horns on my semi truck,i tried them out and they sound like they are from a class 31 loco, they do sound great and loud, as my truck puts out 120 psi, i have the 2 way valve as well to operate the 2 tones !

i would love to get real deltic horns though.

Well, you said that you already tried them out and they sound great, so it sounds like you don't need any further adjustment. If you're talking about adjusting the tone, or frequency they put out, you will need to change the physical dimensions of the horn, like its length and the size of the air aperture. These may not be able to be changed, especially the length, unless you want to try re-machining them to add or take away length.

I don't know why this last one is under the Finance category, but there we are. Another possible source of info might be the steam whistles group, as they use air for a lot of their projects:
