The problem is probably going to be the horn contacts in the steering wheel, which have to be replaced. But if the contacts are built into the air bag that is going to be a big expensive problem. One from a junkyard might not last long and it will be expensive.A new one from Ford will be even more expensive.I would go for an "after market" steering wheel and horn pad.One that looks nice and won't cost a fortune.Or one from an older Escort that doesn't have the contacts in the air bag.just make sure it will fit before you buy it.
Reply:Do you have an alarm ? They often go bad.
Reply:First, you have a severe problem that is going to cost you more money than the car is probably worth. On the 95 Escort the horn contact is part of the Air Bag asy. Ford does not service it any other way. When that piece fouls up, this allows the horn to stay on. I hate to be the person to answer this for you. My strongest suggestion, is to find a salvage yard that will have an air bag. They may try to sell you an entire steering wheel but i'm not sure. Good luck and I hope this helps out!
Reply:there are horn contacts behind the foam, and foam wears down and contacts touch intermittently....try taking off horn pad on wheel, and see if this continues to happen
Reply:Remove horn. Throw away rest of car. I hate Fords.
Reply:it is either the horn button,or the wire harness going to the button through the steering column.....remove the fuse and it will stop .
Reply:Don't listen to those guys. A lot of things could have went bad. You should be able to find the fuse or the relay location from your car manual. Just disconnect one of them. Most horns go off because the relay went bad, it is 10 part from the auto part store. Without testing the whole run it is impossible to say exactly. Some States do not require a horn to pass inspection. Just check if your State requires a working horn to pass inspection.
