Does anyone disagree with JOE HORN from Pasadena, TX for the burglars that he killed?

I think he was rite. I think people are fed up with criminals thinking they can do watever they want.

Does anyone disagree with JOE HORN from Pasadena, TX for the burglars that he killed?
He saved a lot of taxpayer dollars and insured that those particular criminals will never perpetrate another criminal act. he may have been a little calous about his actions, but he was protecting his property from criminals. Its a shame they were not smart enough to realize that nothing good comes of being a criminal.
Reply:well don't they?????????
Reply:Here is an e-mail I sent to the editor of the Houston Chronicle about an article she wrote about the story.

I just read your article over the Joe Horn situation "Missing trees for the forest". I just wanted to give you my opinion.

When I was younger I lived in Lumberton (right outside of Beaumont) for a year or two, but I am a native of Oklahoma, which is where I currently live. I am a Republican, a strong conservative, a member of the NRA, an avid hunter, a strong believer in the death penalty, and, most of all, a country boy. But I have to say that I do not agree with what Mr. Horn did.

I listened to his 911 call at least 5 times, and the part that bothers me the most is when he says "I'm not going to let them get away with this", "I'm going to kill 'em", and right before he fires the first shot he says "you're dead". I believe that he should be punished for what he did. However, I do not believe he should be charged with first degree murder. He should be charged with manslaughter, or some other form of a lesser charge, just whatever category this could fit into. For the burglars, the punishment did not fit the crime.

Had the burglars entered Mr. Horn's home then he would absolutely be justified with what he did. Had he not made his intent to kill them clear before-hand then it wouldn't have raised my eyebrows. But he knew what he was doing, he did it on purpose, and he disobeyed the instructions of the 911 operator. I hope he is punished. I would not necessarily say that I am all that sympathetic to the burglars (I am somewhat sympathetic, but not overly, I mean they were breaking the law) however it seems clear to me that Mr. Horn wanted to kill someone that day, and given the opportunity in the future, who is to say he wouldn't do it again?

This case has caused a few heated debates in my house. I'm of one opinion, while my wife is of another. I have been the victim of a home burglary three times in my life, and I never once wanted the criminals to die for stealing my property. As the 911 operator said, no property is worth dying over.

Just my opinion. I really enjoyed your article.
Reply:I'd be very happy to have Joe as my neighbor.
