Trains and their Honks in San Diego.. why do they blow their horns every time even at nights.?

Can anyone tell me why does the train in San Diego blows the horn all the time?! I may not know why are they doing it. Its so annoying and sick to hear the train blowing the horns all the time even when their tracks are clear.

Trains have to sound the horn whenever they cross an intersection in order to warn vehicles. It's the law. It happens in Flagstaff constantly...train runs every 15 mins day and night. Whaaaa! Whaaaa!..WHHHAAAAAAA!!!
Reply:It's the law. when they are a certain distance from a populated area, they must blow the horn . It's very annoying!
Reply:I know something about this... In order for a train to go through a crossing without honking, the crossing must include proper safety devices, such as guard rails, lights, bells, etc... If all of those features are not in place, they are required to blow the horn. As a result, many cities make sure all of those things are in place so that they don't have to deal with the noise. I lived in Columbia, SC for a while, where there is a section of town with just basic crossings... no lights or anything. So they're always blowing their horns through there.
Reply:Trains must blow their horns at intersections. The intersections are still there at night therefore horns must be blown at night. Simple math.
Reply:It's a freight train. I've lived by the trolley tracks since I was born, and every night between 11pm and 1 am a train goes by and it's horn blows, I've gotten used to it, but I remember it used to wake me up alot.
Reply:It's for public safety. The perso operating the train has no idea if the tracks are clear or not, so that's one reason why they blow thier horns, even at night.





Secondly, not all railroad crossings work properly, i.e. lights,whistles, road blocks, etc... this would also serve as a warning to drivers that a train is approaching.





Lastly, some people in thier stupidity, like to think they can go around or ignore railroad crossings, and end up getting hit by railrads despite the loud annoying horn.
