How do you keep a Great-Horned Owl away from baby goats?

I have a small ranch.

How do you keep a Great-Horned Owl away from baby goats?
All you can do is keep your goat kids inside until they are big enough that the owl can't carry them off. Even guardian dogs aren't much help against birds of prey because they swoop down and grab them. Has the owl actually taken one of your goats? I raise miniature goats and have hawks nesting in my pasture, but so far they have never bothered my goats.
Reply:put pigeon statues on the roof haha!
Reply:a great horned will not attack goat kids, they are just too big. Owls eat rodents and hunt by sound and don't like being anywhere near humans so it is very unlikely it will attack it would have to be starving to death with no other options and extreemly brave. And don't worry there is no way it would be able to carry one away.

Owls like to swallow their food whole. but if you are still worried it would be disturbed by strange noises and mybee get a plastic owl, and don't forget to move it around or it will get used to it being there and ignore it.
Reply:You need to use non-lethal methods. In the US, all native migratory birds are protected under federal law (Migratory Bird Treaty Act), and owls are further protected by various state and federal laws. It is illegal to kill one, harm one, or even harass one.

Since owls are nocturnal - they hunt at night - the best thing to do is keep your goats in a barn at night. There, they will be safe, not only from the GHO, but also from coyotes and other nocturnal predators.
