Is it easy to fit a car horn?

I have a citreon saxo and the horn has stopped working. I've checked the fuses and they're fine.

The only thing is that after months of not working, I managed to get one beep out of it, but it's dead again.

Any advice?

Is it easy to fit a car horn?
Disconnect the 2 wires to the horn they should be connectors so they will pull off, give both connections a clean and refit if it it still not working there will be a 13mm nut holding the horn undo this and that's it your horn is off, usually its the horn or the connections because of where they are mounted they get dirty and wet.

If you want to test the wiring get an electricians screwdriver (one with the bulb inside) and touch both wires to the screwdriver while someone pushes the horn the bulb will light up showing that there is no wiring fault just the horn.

Don't bother with scrap yards a new horn will cost you less than £6 and last much longer.
Reply:Are you sure its the horn ?

check you get 12V at it when you operate the switch before buying a new one

As its worked occassionly, its more likely to be a dodgy connection than the horn itself

fitting a horn is dead easy, normally 1 bolt and 1 wire lug.
Reply:Well it's just a matter of disconnecting two wires, unscrewing the screws and removing and replacing the wires.

30 mins maximum

You could get a replacement horn from a scrapyard or a new one from a motor factors or Halfords.
Reply:get a length of wire hold one end on the battery + post and the other on the connection where the wire attaches to the old horn. If it beeps then it is likely to be the horn switch. If so blast some wd40 in it and it will probally be ok
Reply:make sure they are grounded good.
