Can I grow stag horn fern outdoor? I live in the desert where it's hot/dry and 40 to 60 degrees on winter.

I'm planning to plant my stag horn fern on my palm trees or lemon tree. What is the best way to make it an outdoor plant?

Simply put -- no. Stag Horn ferns are native to jungle-like environments. They don't change their way of life to suit your conditions. They MUST have warm, very humid conditions. So put your fern in a jungle-like green house. You always wanted a green house -- now is the time to build it. Or, move to south Florida or the Congo. Happy New Year.
Reply:Put it in a coco mat basket and hang it from the trees you mentioned. Add water, mist frequently. Enjoy. I've seen many growing all year outside (SC).
Reply:It sounds like the temp range where I live in Florida except for the dry part. Hangin basket with coca mat with spagnum moss as a filler works best and looks the best. Recommend full shade. Because of the dryness I recommend watering every day. They love bananna peels when ever you have them. Fish emulcion is also good for them but not too often. I also recommend planting 3or4 in the basket for quicker gratifaction. Plant them half way up the basket, not on the top.
