Flower horns?

My tank is about 700 gallons.. a little more. I have 12 flower horns, 5 red devils, 6 tiger oscars, and 4 electric eels in there along with a few pacus. I have about 17 filters and atleast 32 Plecos. For some dam reason my plecos are fighting eachother and chasing eachohter. can anyone tell me why they are doing this. im fairly experienced with taking care of fish but ive never seen a pleco be aggressive with any other fish

Flower horns?
Well, while your tank is very large and, after doing the math, does not seem overcrowded, that math allows for vertical space usage as well. When calculating space for plecos, (in addition to the eels), as they only reside on the bottom, the numbers dwindle significantly. I don't know exactly what your dimensions are, but I found a picture of a 1,000 gallon aquarium and when trying to picture 32 plecos carpeting the bottom, I felt claustrophobic myself. It sounds to me like, at 32 large critters sharing the bottom, there's probably not enough of it to go around. They're probably just fighting for some territory and space would be my guess.

Reply:there are a great deal of species of pleco that are territorial, they could be overcrowded, even in a 700 gallon tank if you have too many for them to be comfortable they will squabble, also they could be males fighting over the love of a lady. i might do a large water change and see if lowering the pheromones in the tank helps
