Why do people not look out for cars when walking or jogging?

Like they are the only ones around? And why do they give drivers nasty looks when they lay on the horns? Man this bugs me.. It's a lot easier for them to LOOK before entering a road than for us to stop in the middle of traffic for them.

Why do people not look out for cars when walking or jogging?
Because in some States but no all of them, The pedestrian has the right of way and so these S.O.B.'s think they own the road, street and sometimes the thruway... that's when its open season on these idiots..
Reply:Thanks to our local, and federal hacks. And, oh yeah, the yuppies of today's society! They have made laws saying it is our responsibility to watch for; pedestrians, joggers, bikers, hikers, etc, etc. So don't go running people over, you will end up in a big mess. Could last for years! If you've never been to the state of Maine, I suggest you visit there in summer. These driver's are so well trained, that if you were to put one foot on the road and keep the other on the sidewalk-the cars automatically come to a stop! Just as if they were all programmed to do that! But they have very strict laws pertaining to this. So if you do come here, BEWARE!
Reply:Who knows. But i was informed that in Missouri(my home state) Its not illegal to hit a pedestrian in the road as long as you honk first.
Reply:Because they are stupid.

Pedestrians have a responsibilty to watch out for cars just as much as drivers have to watch out for pedestrians. It's called "avoiding an accident" and it's everybody's responsibilty.
Reply:Pedestrians have the "right away". Experts say, "You" should be in control of "your vehicle" at all times. This means you should be looking far enough in advance to see any Hazard. Including pedestrians.
Reply:Hey if anything worked the way it should or was intended to, peds wouldn't get run over nearly as often. The simple fact is many (too many) are thoughtless. It's an easy equation. You want to be run over by a motor vehicle + run out into the road without looking + duhh = you'll probably get run over soon. I would assume the reason for the MV's to yield to peds laws are to help ensure that someone who does not realize the danger of running into the street (peds who don't have licenses, children, etc.) don't end up getting get pancaked. But grown adults who do operate MV's should know better and should quit being so casual about it because I would hit them if it wasn't against the law.
Reply:yes but alot of pedistrans know it is the drivers responsibility to control his car
