Does anyone know how to find the horn hook up on a 1985 VW Golf?

I think it must have a short in it because it goes off whenever it rains. I have looked everywhere under the hood and can't figure it out. Thanks.

Does anyone know how to find the horn hook up on a 1985 VW Golf?
Between the very back of the steering wheel and the steering column is a small opening, like a 1/8" slit. This allows the steering wheel to turn from side to side. If you look on the right hand side of this slit, you will see a small gold tab, like a very small spoon. This is the contact for the horn. Over time, the contact gets clogged with dust and debris that falls into this slit. The dust/dirt actually carries a charge in between the contact (like an electron coated dirt bridge!).

All you have to do is get a paper towel or some type of cloth that will fit between the wheel and the steering column, and pull up and down (like drying off your back with a towel, but up and down motion). This will remove the dirt from between the contact and stop the horn from blowing every time you turn the wheel.

Good luck
Reply:well ur question is vague, but I will try. u need an electrical parts locater manual for your model of car, and find the relay for ur horn. it may be at the main electrical panel . the horn works from the button to the relay to the horn. good luck
