87 ford T-bird horn not working and I am not sure of the correct fuse. I look in the haynes manual but it doesn't look like mine. How can I fix?
How can I fix or trace my horn malfunction on 87 T-bird?
Get a test light or an ohm meter and start checkin things out. Test the horn first though.
Reply:I'll help you walk thru this and it's easier than you think. You need a light tester. it resembles a long pensil with a wire attached at the end (if you aren't experienced with one) put the one with a clip end on metal somewhere near the fuse box and using the point end of the tester touch the tiny contacts on the end face of each fuse in the panel. many wont light at all without the ignition turned on but the horn does. both contacts must light on the fuse. replace any fuse you find that doesn't do this. it may not be the one for the horn but something in your car isn't working because of it. try the horn again if still not working it may be the the horn contact ring in the steering wheel. If your car came with works in the wheel system (cruise etc) the ring gets dirty and needs cleaned with electrical contact cleaner (available at your car parts store. you should have instructions on this in your Manlual
