After flushing my toilet there is a loud noise resembling a fog horn. What causes this, how do I make it stop?

This used to happen occasionally, now it happens every time the toilet is flushed and it appears to be getting louder and longer. Do I need to call a plumber or is this something I can resolve on my own?

ok easy fix there are 2 screws on top of your valve mechanism in the tank 1 screw is to set fill level disregard that screw the other is fill rate thats the one we want simply back that screw off a half turn to increase the fill rate and stop valve shutter if the noise is still there after 1/2 turn try another 1/2 turn
Reply:Air in the pipes. I don't know how to fix it. You may need a plumber if you can't live with it.
Reply:Many times a commode will make a loud noise like that right before it shuts off. I would install a new fill valve. Sometimes extremely high water pressure will make them squeal or have noises. Replace the fill valve.
Reply:Call an exorcist.
