How do you hit high notes on a french horn?
You have to work your lips up to it. It's all in the tightening of the mouth if I remember correctly. Practice, practice, practice.
Reply:tighten the lips and blow and press the correct valve. One thing that I tried was take the mouth piece out of the horn and blow into it tightening your lips and listen to the sound as you tighten and modulate the air flow you should hear the sound go up. OK it will sound like you are giving everyone a raspberry but you will get good feedback for the sound.
