How can my son make a model of a horned toad?

My 9 yr. old son has to make a 3D model of a horned toad for school. We have no clue how to even begin.....any suggestions?

you can make a base out of tin foil and then cover it with polymer clay. it's really easy to work with, and doesn't make a tremendous mess.

after you bake it it's hard, but until that point the clay won't dry out so you'll have a lot of time to work with the material. after it's been backed, you can sand it and paint it and do anything you want to it.

cool project!
Reply:i would probably use pape mache and then paint it.
Reply:Clay or play doh?
Reply:use a tennis ball
