Why do people who drive cars find it necessary to slam their car doors and then honk their horns as they ...?

... drive away after visiting.

Why can't they say goodbye inside the house and then leave *quietly*

Don't even get me started on that joan !!!

Reply:Know what you mean Jo as this is a pet hate of mine too! Whether it is daytime or after dark I can't stand it - always makes me jump! So annoying.........
Reply:I know. It is so stupid and they think they are cool. I love the signs in NYCIty saying NO Noise and then a 450. fine. Dont know how they enforce it though. Horns should be for emergency use only like when someone is coming into your lane and doesnt see you.
Reply:Some would consider that a friendly gesture. Maybe they like you better than you like them. You wouldn't have happened to have someone visit while you had a hangover would you?
Reply:I have often wondered that myself. Seems quite pointless.

Still very annoying. Just say goodbye and GO quietly, please.
Reply:lol i am guilty of this sorry everyone x
Reply:Good point Joan. It's very rude to involve others in goodbyes. Thoughtless and selfish.
Reply:People they visited get them to do it so they look like they are important with visitors my neighbour always does it bloody annoying and we all know in road they slam doors to run away from her as she is a monster ha ha .
Reply:God knows - it's incredibly irritating and terribly bad form.
Reply:because they are obviously loud, inconsiderate boring people who have no brains? Or just brought up like that?
Reply:people like that are selfish fools.
Reply:Sorry Joan...Im guilty as charged...
Reply:I find it hard to be quiet ! You can bet that if I'm creeping down the path at 3am, I'll knock over the bin or smash a milk bottle or drop my keys - I try but I am a noisy person, sorry ,but never guilty of slamming car doors or honking
Reply:I know what you mean! I was always thaught that after a certain time, you be quiet, quiet with the doors and honking isn't allowed after 11pm anyway. I always be careful when leaving a house in the night. My street is populated by people who have not been taught this, and they honk at all hours, even ,3,4,5am. They shout 'bye' really loud, and even continue conversations loudly in the street! It happens all the time, and I find it amazing. I would never do this. But I live in a place where standards are REALLY low.
Reply:lol... I do the cute little honk honk... the light tapping kind.
Reply:because you got to leave with style
Reply:i think they like to have their presence noticed,as if they r special and want everyone to know they have been,do we really care who visits someone???
Reply:They aren't brought up to have consideration for others the way we were. I wasn't allowed to play out on Sundays until after 10.30am to be sure that all the men who had been to work all week had had time to lie in.
Reply:My pet hate - tooting of horns either to say, I'm here or I'm leaving, ggrrrrr!!!
Reply:maybe they are so happy they just dont realise. Haven't you ever done this?
Reply:So so true. I also hate it when its late at night and people have a conversation by the leaving car=the car motor running and the voices loud to be heard over the motor!!!! These people spend an entire night chatting indoors and then have their most interesting (long) conservation shouting to be heard above a car engine!!!!
Reply:Oh I know, I agree Joan, especially at 2am on a Saturday or Sunday morning, what a bl**dy noise!!
Reply:I don't know as Neither my husband (driving 40 yrs) or I (20 yrs) have ever felt the need to do it. I guess it's age related, we were brought up to be considerate to others!

Luckily I live about 150 yards from the nearest road so I don't have this problem!

I do however get the noisy drunks leaving next doors house in the early hours nearly every Saturday Morning! Sometimes they make more noise trying to be quiet than they would just leaving normally!

I think we've all been guilty of that occasionally though so I try to ignore it!
Reply:hahahaha that's me
Reply:Oh the quest for the quiet life hey? God job you don't live around here then. I have neighbours with cockerals which crow in the mornings as the sun comes up. Just up the hill, we have boarding kennels and the dogs are fed 6.45am and bark for about an hour. This time of year, the shooting season is in full swing and I am often woken up at unearthly times by the guns going off. We have bird scarers on the field in front and a horse sanctuary with donkeys, who are very vocal to say the least. Oh yeah and not forgetting the airport which is just up the road too. I would be quite happy with odd toot and a couple of door slammers.
Reply:I don't slam my doors, or honk as I'm leaving.....
Reply:we don't have hooters on our tractors just little bells arh.
